Ousefield House Design Insight

Find out about our design for Ousefield House
Our development of 4 prominent town houses on land adjacent to the Grade II listed Ousefield House, Fulford, is nearing completion on site. The scheme has been carefully designed by Vincent & Partners to respect the character of the local conservation area whilst providing a distinguished and confident solution on a delicate site.
Designed to be contemporary in appearance, the scheme takes design references from surrounding properties. Through reinterpreting the use of high gables, bold chimney stacks and projecting bay windows, each house provides a respectful yet distinctive contribution to the character of the local area.
A ‘Mews’ style arrangement to the site plan emphasises the historic boundary of Ousefield House and allows access to be provided through the original gateposts.
The layout of each property focuses on creating high quality habitable spaces with good connections to external amenity spaces. The massing has been designed to create rhythm along the new driveway, ensuring the properties remain subservient to the listed building.
Each property was designed with sustainability in mind, utilising traditional chimney stacks as a means of integrating mechanical ventilation into the design and ensuring the use of renewable technologies was considered from the offset, minimising visual impact on the sensitive setting.
