Bootham Row Apartments
The project provides 14 high quality apartments in Bootham, York.
The site lies on the north-west edge of the York Central Historic Core, Conservation Area within a short walk to Bootham Bar.
The development site is situated on a tight L shaped site that was formerly Colin Hick Motors. The removal of the existing single storey garage building and adjoining concrete forecourt presented an exciting development opportunity for a new contemporary building. The constrained site had many constraints with buildings adjoining consisting of different styles and scale containing apartments, schools and listed buildings.
Through close discussion with the local planning authority and some innovative design the massing and scale of the building was developed to contain 14 studio and 1 bedroom apartments with a duplex penthouse on top. The scheme took advantage of the York Minster views with Juliette balconies provided to all the apartments and roof top terraces and Green roofs to the penthouse.
Planning was approved in early 2018. The Vincent & Partners team provided full architectural service and completed the tender documentation in summer 2018 and the contractor commenced on site later that year. The build was completed early 2021.
