Planning Approval for New Music Venue

Proposals for a new music venue and Grade A office on Toft Green were unanimously approved at planning committee last week.

The proposals sought to replace the former Fibbers nightclub with a new purpose built 500-capacity music venue operated by Jimmy’s, a local company who also run music venues in Manchester and Liverpool.

Vincent & Brown initially submitted the proposals in February 2020 and throughout the past 3 years have worked collaboratively with York City Council to amend the scheme to better respond to the prevailing context. Design alterations included reduction in scale and refinements to the elevations.

The 500-capacity music venue will complement and enhance York’s thriving music scene whilst the office accommodation will help remedy the current shortfalls of Grade A office in the city centre.

Vincent & Brown worked with Clients Toft Green Developments Ltd, North Star, O’Neill Associates, Montagu Evans and Dragonfly to successfully gain planning approval, well done to everyone involved.
