Urban Renaissance

Development of four luxury contemporary homes

This is a continuation of an approval we gain for another client at Ousefield House on the edge of York. That building had been used as the officers mess for the old Imphal Barracks. The site included a car park and tennis court, which were disused. This project comprises four large, newbuild houses that have been built on that disused land. Ousefield House itself has been updated to provide a single family home, view our proposal for the conversion here

About the client
Mulgrave is an independent and award-winning developer who construct efficient developments in or around growing Yorkshire communities. Their new-build homes incorporate features which enhance the functionality of each properties, including significant energy savings. Mulgrave subscribes to the New Code of Practice for Home Builders.

Our role
Our client agreed with us that this development had to be highly site-specific. This was not a site suited to standard house types or traditional newbuild houses. This was critical in convincing planners of our argument that these new houses would complement their surrounding setting. It was also critical in maximising the value of the site.

Building in a sensitive setting
Each property has been designed to respond to the sensitive nature of the site, respecting the existing mature trees and prominence of Ousefield House. The features also take reference from the surrounding conservation area. The dynamic massing and contemporary appearance ensures the homes are architecturally distinctive within the setting.
