Office development submitted for planning
Our proposals for a new office development on Toft Green, York have been submitted for planning. The proposed scheme seeks to provide Grade A office space close to York Station and City Centre, and an improved setting to the Grade I listed Micklegate House.
The design draws on the site’s history as stabling and gardens for Micklegate House, and includes a first floor garden to improve the outlook from this valuable heritage asset. A brick base references the historical development of the site with a lightweight timber structure sitting above. Large openings will provide generous light levels and an active street frontage, while modern detailing creates a contemporary aesthetic with traditional materials common to the local context.
Located in such close proximity to a Grade I listed building, the proposals have been developed in close collaboration with heritage consultants Montagu Evans and conservation specialists Marcus Beale Architects.
