No.9 The Cresent submitted for planning

Another milestone down as No. 9, The Cresent has now been submitted for planning.

Located close to the train station in York’s historic core, the mixed-use project creates a vibrant new hub for those living, staying and working in the city. The proposal provides 9 residential apartments, 20 aparthotel rooms and 550 sqm of commercial space.

The project is a development of a previously consented fully commercial scheme in response to the city’s increasing need for housing, and to complement the efforts of the York Central masterplan to provide quality new homes in the area.

The proposals were developed in close consultation with York City Planning Department and respond sensitively to the building’s heritage setting. The design retains and restores the historic façade of the former Malt House currently located on the brownfield site, with the new-building blocks set back to strengthen the definition of the original structure. The pitched roof profiles have been designed to step down across the site to respect the surrounding context and reflect the multi-pile roof forms of the industrial buildings typical of the adjacent character area.

The project, for clients Crescent Developments (York) Ltd, seeks to bring new life to The Crescent, enriching the local neighbourhood with quality new homes, flexible workspaces and luxury city centre accommodation. We are looking forward to receiving a decision on the project.
